Start Right Rwanda: From Initiative to Impact

At Visions Africa, we launched the Start Right Rwanda initiative with a simple goal: to help businesses and professionals better understand their accounting, tax and compliance obligations and give them the practical knowledge they need to manage their businesses with greater confidence.

The initiative was designed as a series of practical sessions covering key areas that businesses regularly encounter, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, RSSB, and the RRA e-Tax portal.

Four Sessions Later…

Four sessions later, Start Right Rwanda has been a valuable experience for both the participants and the Visions Africa team.

Across the sessions, we had the opportunity to engage with business owners and professionals, answer their questions, discuss real-life business situations and break down tax and compliance concepts that can often feel complicated.

What made the experience particularly meaningful was the level of participation. The questions, discussions and experiences shared by participants helped make each session practical and interactive rather than simply a presentation.

For us, Start Right was never just about teaching tax concepts. It was about creating a space where businesses could ask questions, understand their obligations and become more confident in managing their financial and compliance responsibilities.

What We Learned

The four sessions also gave us a better understanding of the areas where businesses need the most support. We saw firsthand that sometimes, compliance challenges are not about unwillingness to comply, but about not having clear and accessible information.

This reinforced our belief that sharing knowledge is an important part of supporting a stronger and more compliant business community.
